About

Yoga Community Connection is a non-profit organization based in Madison, Wisconsin, and led by Executive Director and lead instructor Jonathan Garber.

Our Mission
YCC’s mission is to foster learning and self-development to children K -8 in schools and community programs.

Our Vision
YCC works to enrich and promote healthy relationships through yoga.

Yoga Goes to School (YGTS) offers state-wide consultation and training. State-wide trainings are available for teachers for graduate credit.

YCC’s Yoga Goes to School is one of many programs in schools around Wisconsin to establish and sustain the capacity to reduce barriers to learning and enable all students to experience success.

YGTSconsults with schools to implement programs such as our Teacher Training where school staff is trained to use 40 yoga skills that support a child’s own ability to regulate their own stress, emotional and attention. Students may receive small group yoga class during a lunch recess intervention or during after school programming.

Yoga skills are health activities that give children skills to learn relaxation and focusing skills practiced in the when and where they are most needed: in the classroom.

Response to Intervention (RtI) is a model becoming institutionalized in schools in which students’ academic, social and emotional needs are met in classrooms (universal level), in small groups (selected level), an individually (targeted) level. Yoga Community Connection, Inc. provides students with research-based, student-centered yoga practices to address student social and emotional intervention needs.

The Yoga Community Connection utilizes the Yoga Ed curriculum and is the first group in Wisconsin to launch a Yoga Ed program. The Yoga Ed curriculum is a K-8 curriculum used in schools; classrooms, small groups and with individual children as well as for the Yoga Tools for Teachers workshops for teachers grades K-8. YCC supports and enhances learning, health and personal responsibility utilizing the exercise system of yoga. Yoga is a combination of science-based exploration through conscious breathing, movements, kinesthetic play and relaxation.
